Project Budget Distribution
|
With all our clients we match our design and costing expertise with
the project needs, budget constraints and desired aesthetic results. One
client needed a retaining wall as part of their landscape requirements.
Through our discussions with this client and our assessment of the landscape,
it was decided that a "hidden" wall would incorporate best into
the site plans and could be constructed in the most cost effective manner
-- allowing for a greater allocation of funds for "visible"
areas of the project.
The solution we decided upon for this retaining wall was a core structure
using recycled materials: used tires, stacked and filled with crushed
rock and soil. We then planted Ivy and other groundcover so they would
cover the wall, integrating it with both the built and natural environment.
In this instance, by dramatically reducing the retaining wall cost, we
were able to focus our attention on the client's front yard, where the
mood for the overall project was set. This way our client was able to
optimize budget resources for the apparent, "visible," aspects of his
built outdoor environment, increasing both the pleasure gained from the landscape as well as
increasing the resale value of the site. |
